Unfortunately, a week after we finished shooting, Carlo the cat, was taken away by coyotes.
From the moment I saw Carlo I knew he was magical. He belonged to the owners of the house that we used for location. We needed a cat for the shoot and it just so happened Carlo fit the description perfectly....grey cat.
I asked the owners if they would be willing to let us use him and they said..." You have to ask Carlo, maybe he will, maybe he wont, you never know." So with a lot of blind faith, a little stupidity, some toys and catnip I decided to use Carlo in the short.
I spent as much time as I could between setups romancing Mr. Carlo. We played with toys, I fed him, gave him massages and spent quite moments alone outside taking to him in hushed whispers. I was willing to do whatever it took to gain his utmost affection. I called him my adorable diva, which he was, but it was all worth it.
We shot so many beautiful organic moments of Carlo and Pops. He was always there at the right moments and his presence in the short adds a warm dimension to emotion journey in the story. In the end Carlo was magic and he will be very missed. Sweet Dreams Carlo.
